Peace Begins With A Smile!

begin with a smileMother Teresa said: “Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing”. “Peace begins with a Smile!”

Treat each day as if in order to survive, you must always be happy. This will not only affect your life, but all the lives around you.

Think back to when you did the most smiling, when you didn’t have to think so much about just surviving. Awwww, the years of being a child again, no problems and running around with nothing but a smile on your face.happy baby

What happened to all that smiling once we became an adult? As a child we we’re able to forgive quickly, not get so frustrated over the small things, enjoy the simple things in life and never take them for granted. We never held grudges against someone, because we would rather have fun playing with them.

I believe we were not put here on this earth to be miserable and live in survival mode every day. Sure, as an adult we face obstacles and challenges every day, but we need to learn to grow from them, not become negative because of them.

Our emotions become contagious to the people around us, whether it’s our family, friends, or strangers. We need to stay happy so that others will become effected by it. We’re only on this beautiful earth for a short time, we need to seize each and every day in an abundance of happiness.

From now on, when you wake up each morning, don’t be angry or sad, the day has just begun, BE HAPPY! Spring out of bed and hit the floor running like you did as a child. Make your new day a fun game, then the next day, play it again!

Life comes at you head on and very, very fast, when it does you have to be ready for it. Before you know it your day will be done, your week will be done and another year will be over. Your children will have children and your time on earth will come to an end as we know it.

big smilesI don’t know about you, but I plan on staying as happy as can be until that day comes for me. I know there will be bad days, sad days, negative days, and many obstacles, but that doesn’t mean that I have to accept them. Even with the loss of a child and having breast cancer,  I choose to play the game of life to it’s fullest in survival happiness with smiles for every one. How about You?

What Is Your Happy?

Some people find happiness in pleasing others, while others find happiness in power and domination.

Some people define their happy as a billion dollars.

Others think the way to happiness and a meaningful life is to get closer to God and give up everything material.

Still others think the ultimate idea of happiness is freedom!

What is your ‘HAPPY’?

I’m taking a positive psychology class, and they say that their are 10 positive emotions. Believe it or not Happy is not one of them. Happy is a broad term that describes a lot of emotions.

The top 10 positive emotions are:

Joy, Gratitude, Serenity, Interest, Hope, Pride, Amusement, Inspiration, Awe and LOVE!

Maybe that’s why they say, “Everyone has a different happy”, because there are so many emotions that make you feel happy!

Positive emotions also have a lot to do with your immune system function, which is why I believe that when dealing with cancer you need to stay positive.  It’s like a nutrient to your body.

You Can Absolutely Beat, Prevent, and Treat Cancer!

Money Can’t Buy Happiness!

moneyThey say, “Money can’t buy happiness!”

Well, Success Magazine declares: “Happy People Make More Money!” Happy people are very positive, and positivity has a strong casual link to higher incomes, perhaps because people who see the glass as half full tend to see and be more open to opportunities, to be easier to work with and for, and more likely to find creative solutions and less likely to give up. So, while more money doesn’t necessarily make you happier, More Happiness just might make you more money!

There are all kinds of ways to spread happiness, and there are a lot of people out there doing it right now.

An Iowa woman celebrated her 34th birthday with 34 acts of kindness, hoping to spread happiness by helping others. She left a bag of quarters at a local Laundromat. Dropped a $5 bill on the floor at the dollar store. Thanked firefighters with boxes of chocolates. Handed out Subway restaurant gift cards to homeless people. And stocked the baby changing table at a local Target store with disposable wipes, among many other things. After every act of kindness, she would leave a calling card, urging others to pay it forward.

Another woman would pay for the food of the people behind her in a drive up window. She baked birthday cakes for friends, filled a strangers gas tank, paid for someone’s groceries at the store.

There are many ways to spread happiness, even if you have no money. You can volunteer at the nearest human society, help out at a dog shelter, or just help out your neighbor next door.

If you ever run out of reasons to be Happy, remember there is always one good reason to just stay happy: It makes you feel better than anything else you could do!be happy

The way I look at things is, My glass  is always full! Even if a glass is only 1/2 full of water, the other half is air, therefore, it is full! I totally believe that staying in a happy frame of mind helps beat the cancer blues!

5 Tips To Help Avoid Cancer!

doctorI just read an article by: Dwight McKee, MD He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, nutrition, and integrative and holistic medicine.
This is what he had to say:
“People who have suffered and beaten cancer are willing to do anything they can to prevent the disease from returning. And that’s probably a mindset everyone should adopt, whether they’ve had cancer or not.”
He’s made fighting cancer his life’s work, McKee says these tips are powerful, and not only advises them to his patients, but anyone else who will listen.
1. Address stress
Chronic stress suppresses your immune function and stokes inflammation, which is like fuel for cancer, says McKee. Whether you get into yoga, hiking, or meditation, “the key is to find a stress-management technique that’s enjoyable,” he says. “If it’s not enjoyable, it’s not sustainable.”
2. Beware of mold
“Mycotoxins and aflatoxins found in mold are among the most carcinogenic substances known,” McKee says. If you’ve had a pipe break in your home, or your basement or bathroom is damp and smells like mildew, hire a mold-removal expert to check out your space and 86 the threat, he says.
3. Break a sweat
Hitting the gym can cause immune system changes that may help you fend off cancer, according to a study from the University of Nebraska. Researchers analyzed the profiles of 16 cancer survivors before and after a 12-week exercise program, comparing their ratio of worn-out immune cells to immune cells that can fight off cancer. Before the exercise program, the survivors’ blood profiles were dominated by the worn-out cells, but after 12 weeks of training, those levels dropped by 15%.
4. Lend a helping hand
Clinical research shows volunteering, mentoring, and other acts of altruism pump up your immune function. “It’s necessary for good health to engage in something on a regular basis that’s rewarding,” says McKee, “and one of the most rewarding activities is helping people.”
5. Take this supplement
This comes up so much that you’re probably tired of hearing about it, but vitamin D is important for multiple aspects of your health—and that includes reducing your risk for cancer, McKee says. The problem: You’re probably not getting enough of it.
The easy fix is spending more time outside. Just 10 minutes of midday, summer sun has been known to deliver as much as 10,000 IU of vitamin D. But as we get closer to winter, the sun won’t be strong enough to trigger that much production, so you’ll have to work D-dense foods like fatty fishes into your diet, and add a supplement.
While the Institute of Medicine recommends a conservative 600 IU, The Endocrine Society—and most doctors—deem up to 2,000 IU daily to be safe. Look for a supplement brand with the trusted U.S. Pharmaceutical Ingredient Verification label.
Having had breast cancer myself, I believe what Dr. McKee is saying. The one thing I would add to his list is: Stay In A Happy Frame Of Mind!smiley

How To Have An Epic Life During Cancer!

cancer ribbonGetting told, “You have Cancer”, can be devastating to you and your family.

I have been in that position myself. You start guessing how your life is going to be. Am I going to die?, Am I going to continue to work in order to pay the bills?, Am I going to get to see my kids or grand kids finish growing up? The biggest question I had, was, How am I going to pay for treatments? I had no insurance.

With all these questions rolling around in your head, can you still enjoy an epic life? I say, YES!, and the reason WHY, is simple! YOU GET TO MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICE IN LIFE!

You might be saying, “But I didn’t choose to get cancer! I don’t have a choice if I die because of cancer! My answer is, “Your right, but you can certainly choose the HOW in how you want to live throughout the rest of your life now.

You have a choice to be happy or sad today. You have a choice what to wear today. You have a choice of what to eat. You have a choice of how you want to deal with your cancer.
If faced with choices and you leave it up to someone else to decide, you have given away all of your power. Don’t give your power away to cancer. BEAT IT!beat defeat We are human, and we have the ability to choose what makes us unique and how we live our life.
You know what’s going to happen when you don’t choose a happy life? You’re going to bitch and complain that life really sucks right now. You’re going to hate life. Life will always be a struggle. And by making that negative choice, you give more power to cancer.
Your life should be filled with laughter, love, family, friends, gratitude, giving and excitement. Sure there will be rough times, but you can’t let that ruin your enjoyment of life.

It’s really sad that no one has completely come up with a cure for cancer. It’s taken the life of every age possible. I was one of the lucky ones that survived breast cancer! My mom survived Lymphoma cancer at the age of 75. Unfortunately, my best friend died of melanoma cancer at the age of 50. Another good friend of mine died of prostate cancer at the age of 67.

I know babies don’t understand this, but they can feel the positive energy of adults around them. I believe that as adults, if we keep a positive energy around us at all times during cancer, we will survive. I believe that was the biggest difference between my best friend and I during cancer. She gave up, and I refused to!

I believe that even during cancer, you can have an EPIC life. You just have to choose it!choose

Have Courage Over Cancer!

Dr. Wayne Dryer Will Be Missed By All!

dr. wayne dyerBecause I believe you need to hear inspirational messages and stay positive to beat cancer, I just had to post this about Dr. Wayne Dryer.

Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, the best-selling self-help guru and author of 30 books is now in heaven looking over us. He will be missed!

Dr. Wayne Dyer was speaking at a conference one day about an orange, this is what was said:

“I was preparing to speak at an I Can Do It conference and I decided to bring an orange on stage with me as a prop for my lecture. I opened a conversation with a bright young fellow of about twelve who was sitting in the front row.
“If I were to squeeze this orange as hard as I could, what would come out?” I asked him.
He looked at me like I was a little crazy and said, “Juice, of course.”
“Do you think apple juice could come out of it?”
“No!” he laughed.
“What about grapefruit juice?”
“No!”
“What would come out of it?”
“Orange juice, of course.”
“Why? Why when you squeeze an orange does orange juice come out?”
He may have been getting a little exasperated with me at this point.
“Well, it’s an orange and that’s what’s inside.”
I nodded. “Let’s assume that this orange isn’t an orange, but it’s you. And someone squeezes you, puts pressure on you, says something you don’t like, offends you. And out of you comes anger, hatred, bitterness, fear. Why? The answer, as our young friend has told us, is because that’s what’s inside.”oranges
It’s one of the great lessons of life. What comes out when life squeezes you? When someone hurts or offends you? If anger, pain and fear come out of you, it’s because that’s what’s inside. It doesn’t matter who does the squeezing—your mother, your brother, your children, your boss, the government. If someone says something about you that you don’t like, what comes out of you is what’s inside. And what’s inside is up to you, it’s your choice.
When someone puts the pressure on you and out of you comes anything other than love, it’s because that’s what you’ve allowed to be inside. Once you take away all those negative things you don’t want in your life and replace them with love, you’ll find yourself living a highly functioning life.

When dealing with cancer, let your insides have only positive love be squeezed out!

How To Manage Your Emotions When Having Cancer!

emotions girlDo you go on day after day and let emotions control you? Or do you control them?

It took me a long time to learn to control my emotions and stay positive in life. I’m so glad I did, because when I was diagnosed with breast cancer it tried to turn my life upside down.

Most of the doctors were negative, telling me you only have two choices, have a mastectomy or a lumpectomy and radiation. They sat me down asking me if I was ok, never telling me that it would be ok.

I believe, because of my positive attitude, I was able to keep my emotions in tact and beat the deadly disease of breast cancer. I can happily say now that I am cancer free!

Negative Emotions

Much of psychology and counseling focuses on how to regulate negative emotions, such as, negativity, anxiety, depression, anger and stress. Some of our closest friends and even our families can be very negative in our live.

Much of our life also includes the experience of positive emotions as well, and learning to regulate emotions such as joy, gratitude, and optimism. You need to start looking on the bright side of things, always being in a happy state of mind.

An article that was posted in the, Journal of Happiness Studies in 2007, reports that there are two main strategies when it comes to the regulation of positive emotions. These include maintaining or prolonging, and increasing or enhancing, positive emotional experiences.

Maintaining positive emotions

When we hear some great news, achieve something important to us, experience something inspiring and uplifting, this is when you need to find a way to make these feelings last. This helps us to get the most from positive emotions.

One thing that can be done is to simply share positive and pleasant news with others. As long as the other person is willing to embrace and validate our positive feelings, it gives us a chance to prolong our positive feelings. If you do share with a negative person, always be ready for a negative feedback.

Learning to savor positive feelings and experiences can really help you experience extended positive emotions. A few ways to savor positive emotions is to anticipate the upcoming experience, appreciate and fully engage in the moment, and reminisce about the experience afterwards.

Enhancing positive emotions

When things are going well in your life, this is a great opportunity to boost and enhance your positive emotional experiences. Cultivating gratitude is one way to do this. Consider the blessings in your life and really appreciate all the good things you have. Every day before you get out of bed, you should think of all the things you are grateful for.

A short exercise that I learned was to write on a piece of paper every day for twenty one days, three things that I am grateful for. Never repeating the same one twice. Try it for yourself; you will not believe how this one exercise will change your whole outlook on life, especially when dealing with cancer.

Learning to find positive meaning and value when there’s stress and adversity in our life, can also help us turn our emotional state around. Reframe and reappraise situations with a positive outlook. Find that silver lining and embrace that positive thought instead of the negative thought.

Do what you can to extract the most satisfaction from your positive feelings and you will find it easier to bounce back from negativity and keep positive throughout your day and throughout your life!

Happiness Is Not Something Magical!

smileyOne thing the philosopher’s have found is that, happiness is not something magical, even the smallest of things CAN make some people happy.

If you are one of those people who struggle to not only be happy, but to stay happy, here is a list of things that may help you.

One: Dance like no one is watching

Put on some of your favorite music and dance, dance, dance. The sheer fun of going against your normal activities and feeling the joy of your favorite music will turn your frown upside down. Especially if going through having cancer.

Now if some one is watching you, they may start laughing, but that’s ok, because now you’ve made someone else happy too.

Two: Count your blessings

When you start to think about all the things that are going wrong in your life, like having cancer, start counting your blessings. Think of all the things that you should be grateful for. When you make a list of things that you’re grateful for you tend to forget about all the bad stuff in your life and what got you down in the first place.

Three: Hula Hoop!

I bought a hula hoop because I heard it was great for exercising. Living full time in an RV is kind of hard to hit the gym everyday or carry weights around with you, so I bought a hula hoop. Not only did I loose weight, but hula hooping to music made me feel like a kid again. Of course, at first it wasn’t easy, I really had to laugh at myself, because I got a lot of bruises on my shins, but what fun! Try it some time, you really will feel like a kid again.

Four: Just Choose It!

Being happy is a mindset. So choose to be happy! We can all choose our own thought patterns. We can choose to put a smile on our face, to be positive rather than negative, to be upbeat rather than complaining.
If you have to do something that makes you unhappy, which at sometime or another we all do, just know that it will be done soon and we can become happy again. It’s much easier to accomplish something when you are happy and content, than it is when you are miserable. And the task that you don’t want to do, that makes you unhappy, will be done much faster.
